Pope Francis’ #Beatitudes papacy makes him one of the most important #antifa politicians of our era because,

THE BEATITUDES ARE THE OPPOSITE OF FASCISM

have said numerous times USA’s #1 export is #fascism. Bergolio survived #OperationCondor and understood that, to fight fascism inside the #RCC, he needed a vanguard of bishops like Prevost.

Pope Leo’s homily is a complete rebuke of evangelicals’ supply-side Jesus. USA warmongering #christofascism is not only an oxymoron. it’s #heresy.

❝ Brothers and sisters, this is our God: Jesus, King of Peace, who rejects war, whom no one can use to justify war. He does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them, saying: “Even though you make many prayers, I will not listen: your hands are full of blood” (Is 1:15). ❞

Pope Leo’s homily is interesting for how he uses repetition to hammer home ―seven times, by the way― that Jesus is “The King of Peace” on this first day of Semana Santa:

Holy Week is when Catholics commemorate all the events that led to Jesus fulfilling the prophecy of resurrection; of him taking on the burden of death so Humanity didn't have to 🧵…

IN THEORY, CATHOLICISM IS A LIFE-AFFIRMING RELIGION

but in reality all of Christianity has been an amalgam of cults of violence, death and destruction.

this is the internal contradiction of Christianity; and why so many secular death cults ―like neoliberalism and technofascism― prey on christofascists.

techbros & petromafia see MAGA as a very convenient means to an end: they’re using christofascist suicidal tendencies as cannon fodder for their warmongering trophies, especially #Iran

🧵…

most people paid little attention to Pope Francis and that may have been a huge blessing in disguise.

Pope Francis’ predecessor was not only the most corrupt pope in recent history. Pope Rat was a nazi.

so, i cannot impress upon you enough how important Pope Francis was:

THE RCC DIDN'T WAIT FOR POPE RAT TO DIE TO NAME A NEW POPE

and they needed the #antifa anti-Ratzinger because they couldn't coverup anymore the rape & pedophilia & human trafficking harbored by the church itself 🧵…

Pope Francis appointed the most bishops and cardinals in the history of the Catholic Church. and the pope who used the Beatitudes as the guiding principle to his leadership, had one guy helping him identify and appoint like-minded bishops and cardinals.

that guy was Robert Francis Prevost, the dude we now call Pope Southside.

FASCISM THRIVES WHEN WE ARE INDIFFERENT TO SUFFERING

there is nothing more punk and radical than feeding the hungry, healing the ill BECAUSE YOU GIVE A DAMN

🧵…

Pope Southside’s homily isn’t a one-off.

Cardinal Pizzaballa ―the Patriarch of Jerusalem who was on the short list for pope―, called out Israel’s attacks on #Gaza and Palestinians, #genocide; and calling any war “a holy war” a grave sin and heresy.

Look, am an atheist, but as former catholic, this is a BIG FUCKING DEAL 🧵…

Cardinal Pizzaballa: Abusing God’s name for war is the gravest sin

Speaking against the backdrop of continuing conflict, death, displacement, and division, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem expresses his belief that truth must continue to be told about the ongoing war in the Middle East and that “God is with those who die in war, not with those who abuse his name.”

Vatican News

when nobody was watching, Pope Francis GUTTED the #RCC fascist, pedophile-enabling leadership in the Vatican and WORLDWIDE.

he also left a whole library on how Catholics needed to use the Beatitudes to fight the death cult of capitalism on issues like #ClimateChange
https://www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en.html

now Pope Leo gets to build upon Francis’ legacy.

as an ex-catholic, it’s exciting to witness something i believed would never happen in my life time: the development of an #antifa papacy /🧵

Francis

@blogdiva Not an <anything> religious. Just a student of history, and interested in the different paths the early Jesus-movement could have taken.

Paul and his followers were mostly to blame for misdirecting the message; they took it out of its very Jewish origin and made it into a Hellenistic mystery religion. After the sack of Jerusalem (70 CE), there was no Jewish foundation left for the Paulinists to have to avoid. They ran with the mystery religion and turned a Jewish (not) messiah into the mythic Christ.
It was all downhill from there. You get people worshiping a quasi-deity, instead of trying to live the message he taught.

And then there were the early "heresies," some of which might have been better directions, if the early "Church" hadn't crushed them (like the Gnostics, and the Gospel of Thomas).

So, reasonably good messages, (from a poor, illiterate Jewish peasant, who had come to some understanding of his world), which were totally convoluted by the so-called Christians.

@c_merriweather @blogdiva I wrote my final exam along the same lines when in theological school back in 1967 (and got an A).
