As a neurodivergent person in tech let me make one point here:

Alex Karp is a fascist and misogynist who wants you to be comfortable with the same thinking Nazis had about neurodivergence.

He can fuck right off.

Palantir’s billionaire CEO says only two kinds of people will succeed in the AI era: trade workers — ‘or you’re neurodivergent’

Billionaire Alex Karp tells Gen Z to skip elite college degrees, as one-fifth of Fortune 500 companies recruit more neurodivergent talent by 2027.

I bet Karp isn’t thinking about neurodivergence beyond what he considers “useful” and that is aligned with a very gendered and biased understanding of it.

Neurodivergence is neither a curse or a superpower. It’s just a way of being it has its pros and cons.

Why do we have to be so weird about it.

As far as the reference to the Nazis go, read about how Asperger’s Syndrome came to be. It’s now just considered Autism

But this diagnosis was used to define who could be useful or normal enough to live or be murdered.

Karp is leaning on dangerous thinking here

@annaecook coincidentally, we spent part of yesterday afternoon at a museum exhibit about Aktion T4 and the euthanasia programme.

@annaecook Agreed, Karp is so unfathomably awful it’s just hard to know where to start. If he never said anything ever again the world would be an infinitely better place.
@annaecook from where I stand I see a bunch of ND people who found something they were good at, one thing they could do in this chaotic world and have a life, and AI is taking that thing away from them. So in addition to all that stuff you said, he's also just plain wrong.

@annaecook @otfrom so how is Palantir planning to attract people with a strong sense of justice, who are more likely than the rest of the population to understand the source material for their name?

Is he trying to carve out a model minority?

@craignicol @annaecook @otfrom Are psychopaths also considered neurodivergent? They seem to be the ones Karp is interested in.
@jairajdevadiga @craignicol @annaecook I don't think we need to be ableist here. Not all psychopaths are harmful dickheads
@annaecook @otfrom also today, there's a smell of something being coordinated https://mas.to/@KatyElphinstone/116206483353899881

@craignicol @annaecook and add Wes Streeting's and Bridget Phillipson's views on the over diagnosis of neuro diversity in the UK
@otfrom @annaecook first they came for the Trans people, then they came for the neurodivergent.
