An American ground force in iran will be such a terrible thing. This would be the second large scale FPV-drone war in history.
Imagine invading anything in that environment. It will truly be another Vietnam, where the USA will eventually have to burn the whole thing to save face.

Unfortunately the current US military admininistration is led by a religious drunk, who lacks the intellectual capacity to differentiate between the consequences of using long-range stand-off weapons vs holding ground against an enemy in artillery range, dug in over multiple decades.
On top of that, he seems inclined to believe US weapons are some kind of divine lightning bolts, which will bring ’heathens’ to heel, because they are magic.
@gimulnautti nah Israel and the US have been able to remove the most direct threats to Israel over the last years so I wouldn’t say they lack intelligence. As I do not believe they are stupid I think they will do minimal incursions.
I imagine a good strategy would be to take over oil export infrastructure with ground troops and minimal damage. The infrastructure could then be used as leverage. I’m not so sure the Iranians would bomb their own infrastructure.
