The news about Trump blocking an assassination of the Ayatollah makes me think about what is achieved by that narrative.
Do they want to scare the Ayatollah into leaving Iran? Does Trump want to be seen as minimizing violence? Was there a failed assassination attempt that they want to spin as restraint?
