Happy birthday!

Joeseph Hooton Taylor, K1JT, 1993 Nobel laureate and original mastermind behind the WSJT suite of programs that have revolutionized a big part of #hamRadio, turns 85 today.

@dj3ei And made a massive negative hit on CW & SSB.

Sure!

For the "hunters and gatherers" (who just want any QSO with that DXCC no matter how), FT-8 provides a big advantage over SSB and CW. So they have shifted from SSB and CW to FT8.

What that crowd does is a major part of what your statistic sees. It is natural you see a massive shift from SSB and CW to FT8.

By contrast: I enjoy weekly ragchews with always the same people on 2 m FM and CW. An ongoing series of 2+ hours each of 300+ weeks by now. Nobody logs that as QSOs any more.

@OH3CUF

@OH3CUF @dj3ei The percentages of those modes went down mostly because of the total number of qsos going up thanks to the JT modes, if I’m reading https://clublog.org/modes.csv correctly?
