@amiserabilist I've been near Aberdeenshire for a short while (on the A9 up to JoG) decades ago. Is it still with me or does it wear off?

@amiserabilist One possibly good outcome of entering the County would be that one could get to Aberdeen City, Scotland’s 3rd most populated centre, and one rich in Arts and Culture!

However, the down side of this is the getting through that entire area of… well… very little, one supposes.

LOL.

real visitors don't get discouraged by weather.

one of the coldest, wettest trips i ever had was a hogmanay visit in scotland. new years day, after drinking until 3am, we did a hike in 1C/33F temps, pouring rain so hard it was blowing sideways. beautiful scenery, wonderful company, a fantastic trip.

@paul_ipv6 @amiserabilist Oh I'd definitely choose deep winter Scandinavia vs Just above freezing wet rain basically anywhere

I spent a February in Finland. Much like people talk about a 'dry heat', I learned that a 'still cold' isn't that bad. As long as the wind wasn't blowing, you weren't acutely aware of the -20C

@pixelpusher220 @amiserabilist

indeed. it's why i like it here in the mountains. 15% humidity makes cold a lot easier to take.
