one of the coldest, wettest trips i ever had was a hogmanay visit in scotland. new years day, after drinking until 3am, we did a hike in 1C/33F temps, pouring rain so hard it was blowing sideways. beautiful scenery, wonderful company, a fantastic trip.

I spent a February in Finland. Much like people talk about a 'dry heat', I learned that a 'still cold' isn't that bad. As long as the wind wasn't blowing, you weren't acutely aware of the -20C

indeed. it's why i like it here in the mountains. 15% humidity makes cold a lot easier to take.
