No. It did not. The only thing that was added was an OPTIONAL, EMPTY BY DEFAULT field in the userDB. To accompany fields called "Name", "Surname" and "Location". Want to fill it? Fill it. Don't want to fill it? Don't fill it. Or lie about it. Fuck cares. It's an OPTIONAL COLUMN IN YOUR LOCAL DATABASE. NOTHING MORE.

If or when distros start requiring you to fill your DoB - go ahead, be offended, go with pitchforks and boycott the distros.

@leniwcowaty the issue is that this is a wedge in the door that will likely be used in the future.
@bobdobberson hate me for that, but if this age verification stuff is inevitable (which I hope is not, but what if), it is better to have one, single, locally stored place that these systems can call to, rather than every distro and every DE developing their own solution, creating a holy mess of different standards and APIs, that application developers have to follow and implement separately
@leniwcowaty I don't hate you at all. I am not willing to concede and if it comes to it, will be locked out of the internet in various ways on an old distribution that might no longer get security updates. Such is life.
@leniwcowaty I would also love to see every distro and DE fight over the best way to do it, cause noise and frustration, and demonstrate how absolutely asinine the concept of age-gating the internet as a replacement for good parenting is.
