People just aren’t ready for the conversation about Starfleet Academy and Discovery just not being primarily intended for an audience eye of straight, white, millennial and older dudes. And how much *other* Trekkie fan audiences could relate to the characters, finally.
Months of me wanting to scream, “but we’re the audience for this, not you!” Into an internet void.

I was actually thinking about this as I was watching #StarfleetAcademy.

I'm an absolutely from-the-start 1st Gen #Trekkie

& I have my issues with the quality of some of the writing.

But I can't express how stoked I am to see the wild range & variety of characters. It's just so freakin' glorious.

My wife and I decided to rewatch ALL the Star Trek shows over, in release order.

Mainly because we didn’t have the ability to ensure we saw all of them, and in order, when growing up.

They ALL have problems with the quality of the writing.

And the acting.

They just had 20+ shows a year to make up for the occasional misfires.

And to have the occasional hit that makes it all worthwhile.

And a tight deadline to write on.

Got into this with somebody else, who couldn't abide episodic TV for this reason. I assert that there's a special skill to watching TV. One has to, as a viewer, decide what to ignore, & what to fill in with head canon. I'm a lifelong TV baby, so it's 2nd nature for me. I get it entirely if it's not someone's cuppa.
