> The more they want to force me to offload my work to an LLM, the more I'll grab my pen and paper to take notes, take my time to think, to plan my work, to do my work; slowly and thoroughly.

The more they want to de-skill me, the more I'll study my craft and care about doing my craft well.

They will not break me.

This is the kind of "taking care" I had in mind when reading @tante 's post earlier today, @javahippie

@rotnroll666 I'm so sad that fewer people than I anticipated put up a resistance :/

Perhaps it's the LinkedIn bias, but so many of my software testing peers seemed to have drunk the Koolaid without question.

@maaikees I logged off from linked on all of my machines except the one I used the least, it was making me sick.
@maaikees I don't use much pen and paper, but I do take my time to do things properly. Note it does not mean "right" - I have no illusions that my work is fault-free or even great - but it is *mine*. And if I miss something, or get something wrong, I don't need to spent time looking for who or what to blame.

Also I will not be party to theft, and I consider my own carbon footprint more than large enough already.
@maaikees I like your blog ;)
@khleedril thank you πŸ™πŸΌ

@maaikees

I work in a trade and management posted a flyer from USDOL about "Making America AI Ready", which promoted a free, sms based 'course' about how to use AI and "identify uses of AI in the workplace"
I already have guys using AI to troubleshoot massive machines that already have huge manuals with all the info you could want.
Im trying to learn FROM THEM and hone my skills in the trade but these fkwits are outsourcing TEACHING me to a fkn LLM.

I still purposefully pull out the manuals and various books from my tools every time I need them

@maaikees
So, there is no "they" putting a gun to your head and forcing you. It's just market forces. You feel, or feel you are being bombarded with the messaging (I think I can empathise there), that you have to adopt it otherwise you will get outcompeted?
Honestly seems a bit dramatic to me but idk your situation.
@dlakelan
@light
"its just market forces" is literally cops with guns telling you you can't use capitalist assets without paying them rent. Under capitalism, markets aren't free they are controlled by business owners with licenses to use govt guns.
