Villagers vexed by mystery of the sauvignon blanc fly-tipper

Picturesque villages in the Yorkshire Wolds have been blighted by bags full of bottles for months.

@emsquared in our old suburban street, the clatter of wine bottles in recycling bins told a tale. Many U.K. folks seem to labour under the delusion that a bottle of wine every night is not being a problem and is what the French do all the time.
@bobthomson70 Don't they just. When the ex lodger lived with us I couldn't keep up with the wine bottle recycling and in no way would they ever think that what they consumed was problematic.

@emsquared

Check for someone who buys turbot, 20kg at a time.

@emsquared Come on. You have to spend a minimum of £15 a bottle to be middle-class. We don't just let anyone in.
@keefeglise Ha. OK wannabe middle class. Maybe they're fly tipping to avoid the shame of sharing their entry level wine choices with their neighbours.
