The magic guys are "magikoopas". If it's just one hanging out with Bowser, that is probably Kamek, a specific magikoopa who has been in several games

Tom Magnanimous@IntrepidVector @sidd_harth0_5h4h since we're talking Mario lore, I'm really fond of the idea that Peach is a colonizer monarch ruling over the indigenous Toadstool people and Bowser leads a multiethnic resistance movement. This places Mario as an "adventurer" in the historical sense, hiring himself out to colonial administration in service of white supremacy
