I have an interesting issue with Omni Describer. When I first tried it several months ago, it worked like a dream. Now, I cannot even get to the point where the YouTube video is downloaded. It times out. It doesn't matter which vid I try, even short ones. I've swapped out the API key, not that we're even getting to that stage. I've updated the app. It's a shame because it used to be good.
@brian_hartgen I'm thinking it's not an omni describer issue, but a Youtube issue. they've probably once more fiddled on the Youtube end. Here's a workaround though. Use Callliope to download the video but not to convert it to mp3, then tell Omni describer to describe the local video.
@maerlynofmiria That is a good point. I have another method for downloading the video. I should have thought of that. Will try it.
@brian_hartgen I'd use it to describe a few videos I have of films that aren't otherwise described, but I can't make it work with videos more than 15 minutes in length.
@maerlynofmiria That's a good workaround. It worked.
@brian_hartgen I'm glad to help. I just wish I knew why it's giving me this issue with not allowing me to get full length movies described.
@maerlynofmiria I read that you can describe vids of up to 30 minutes duration, but no more than that.
@brian_hartgen ok, then how do they expect you to be able to get a full length film described? That makes no sense to me. And the one time I got it to work with a video over fifteen minutes long, it got locked into a loop near the end of the video, constantly describing the same action over and over and overa gain lol.
@maerlynofmiria The developer has never claimed that you could get full length movies described, not that I've read.
