Tuesday the Danes elected 86 female members to the Parliament, the Folketinget. This means Denmark is now led by 48 percent women.

I too voted for a woman. Not because she was a woman, but because she was the most qualified.

In general, there has been far fewer political scandals with women over the years, and it has been my impression that more women are well prepared, they are more hard working, while some men are more focused on press coverage and social media visibility.

@randahl I mean, the VAST majority of wars have been caused by men, so…

@drahardja @randahl

Not only that. When it's a scandal with a woman, the bar is soo much lower. For example Toblerone-affären in Sweden. I think the total sum of that one was at the end negative because she had already paid back too much.

@randahl I’d assume that politicians with empathy are very likely to be less corrupt. And in average, women are more empathetic than men.

@FrancoisPrague

I wonder how much of this is because of upbringing and group pressure from early age? I doubt we as a specie are that different between sexes by nature...

@eq @FrancoisPrague

Women are more empathic in general, yes, and that is a biological thing:

However, while that empathy may reduce the risk of partaking in corrupt procedures initially, a longer career in politics seems to eradicate that difference over time:

In a way I get it. Politics is the art of giving and taking, so you need to be good at negotiating and offering benefits for cooperation, and taken to the extreme, that can become downright corrupt.

That being said, we generally have very, very low levels of corruption in Denmark, and it is socially unacceptable to enter into corrupt arrangements. We REALLY don't like it.

@madsenandersc @eq @FrancoisPrague I've seen this happen but its the case of popular "feminism" propaganda where women are brainwashed to become more like men. I had a friend of mine at IBM who had a "MAN" rating. Sigh!
@randahl how's the forming a government? Will the left-center stay in power or will we see the racists get power?

@randahl

Yeah, you would expect that to be considered a good thing, especially if you are a woman and want equal representation.

But no. Oh no. That would have been way to easy.

So, today there is an article on tv2.dk where a woman is complaining about the fact that yes, they are women - but they are YOUNG women - or at least younger than her, and clearly that is no good.

https://nyheder.tv2.dk/live/politik/2026-02-26-folketingsvalg-2026/vraget-s-kandidat-kritiserer-fokus-paa-unge-kvinder?entry=af04f6e0-08e8-401a-b924-153f548be4b5

Yesterday, a male member of another party also took issue with the number of young women that has been elected. We had to understand that at least three of these young women were elected because they were a 10 on the "sexual marketing value scale", whatever that is supposed to mean, and not because they were the next Winston Churchill (his words, not mine).

This is a no-win situation.

If an almost equal representation between men and women in government is being rejected as a bad thing by both men and women, because some of the women are young and pretty, things have gone into absurd territory.

I sincerely hope that those are the extreme outliers - otherwise we need to start screening candidates, so we get an equal representation of ugly people as well. And overweight. And bald. And redheads. And hunchbacks. And left handed. And...

I don't focus on gender as much as you do. I just vote for who I like. I don't keep track of, or even check, what the percentages are

@randahl I'm not sure I agree on that count, however, we do have a bunch of male loud mouthes spouting nonsense at the top of their longues, so what do i know.

That said: my current favorite politicians are women

And watching Lars Løkkes speech on election night was an awful experience. Smug bastard. He's a well skilled politician, i just really don't like his politics.

@randahl so true, and this is true in corporate as well. That's why startups are such beastly places to work. Too many men there.
@randahl Here in Iceland we have a female president, female prime minister and an all female lead majority in elected congress. Unfortunately, women seem to be slowly approaching equality in the scandal department, but fortunately they still have a long way to go. And it’s mostly because of a handful of rotten apples. I’m often surprised that the right leaning parties have any women at all these days.
@randahl Over here in the Netherlands everyone in the government is equal, men and women: they're all equally unreliable and incompetent. 😉
@metin @randahl In Germany, I'd draw the line more between political parties than between genders... We've also (had) some terrible female politicians in charge 😬
@Exxo @metin @randahl Italy here. And I have nothing else to say. Sigh.
@randahl
Although I strongly agree with you on the gender-agnostic voting (I don't really care gender, race, religion, etc while expressing my preference), I completely disagree on the notion of "fewer political scandals with women".
What I see is that, once women permeate the politics, they get accustomed to the same bad habits as men.

@randahl In my impression, if we would have had a female president in the USA we would not have been in the current mess…

And we can also extrapolate to other leadership roles…

@randahl

My preference now, when I consult professionals like doctors and lawyers, is to seek out women. In general, they’re better listeners, communicators, and collaborators.

@randahl true…until I remember the crazy women in Frump’ s castle… nope… there are some crazy bitches out there..🙄…and I mean crazy..

@randahl

Most qualified . . . won't just hand over the country to billionaires.

@randahl

We also swapped out 1/3 of parliament.

I havn't been able to find historical data, but that seems like more than usual ?

@bsdphk I do not know, but yes, that would be interesting to see the statistics for. Maybe DST.dk?
