@CatsWhoCode OK, you are clearly more cborgy; it's not a competition! [cries softly in imposter syndrome]. I have glasses now (because old eyes), shoe inserts (because plantar fascitis), daily chemicals (because brain not programmed for capitalism or cultural social norms), legs reshaped through aggressive casts and braces as a child (because birth defects), and hearing aids since I was young (because genetics or something).
I also think of my laptop and phone as prosthetics in many ways, so I think of most humans as being at least a little bit cyborg.
But seriously, pretty amazing that you have all that cool hardware. I don't aspire to it, but if I were to need it, I'd want it to be awesome, super-powered, and brightly colored.
@guyjantic Aww, thanks! I don't think of it as a competition either. I take "daily chemicals" too
In fact, because of fedi, I got more interested in accessibility tools like screenreaders. I have several blind followers, and I had been asking them which ones they liked best.
@CatsWhoCode Oh, that's awesome. I do not currently (knock on wood) need anything more extreme than some light-prescription glasses for my eyes, but they are clearly getting worse every year since I turned about 50.
I attended a school for the deaf and blind for half of high school (in the USA), and remember a couple of low-sighted or fully blind friends. One of them was very cute and taught me tricks for signing flirty things to each other in dark movie theaters. One or two had other physical disabilities so serious that they are probably dead, now. I don't feel I have much connection to that world any longer, but I guess I have sympathy, and feel it is worthwhile (if sometimes tedious) to at least provide alt-text for photos.
@guyjantic aww, thank you! and yes, I know it can be tedious to type everything out, but I find it worthwhile if it helps people. Some is better than none.
There used to be a bot that would add it for you, but I think it's not maintained anymore.
