A ★★★½ review of Life Is Beautiful (1997)

I cannot cope with this film. And I hold it close to my heart. This could have been Benigni's intention. So, the Oscar was well-deserved. Still remember when the film won, the director climbed on those chairs in Hollywood. And Benigni won too. First non-Englisch role to win one. Fact: he won from Tom Hanks, Ian McKellen, Nick Nolte, Edward Norton. I was more mildly after my second viewing; first one was ages ago. I read Nicoletta Braschi and Roberto Benigni were already married at the time of La Vita è bella. Still together today. Opinions are very different. I
