@echo_pbreyer Question: should you also call your MEPs if your country already votes against #chatcontrol ? Should you only call your country’s MEPs?

@MarcelJan @echo_pbreyer I think you should also call them if your country is against chat control, the MEPs could have a different stance on the topic and if you can the MEPs from other countries also I think it would be nice

@Digol @echo_pbreyer I just started to call some of the MEPs who are for Chatcontrol (and should know better). Not everyone is available, but I got in contact with the office of one of the Renew Europe members. They are really interested in my view on things. (With my IT security background)

@Digol @echo_pbreyer So I called one of the party's last Wednesday
and they asked me to send a mail with extra info. And I did. I sent a mail with two points:
1. If big tech is going to do this, all our messages will end up on the US cloud. And under the Cloud Act might be viewed. How do you feel about that? /1

2. If you're going to use "AI" to find suspicious messages, know that these algorithms have a degree of accuracy. I did a back of the napkin calculation of 1 million messages per minute, an accuracy of 99% (very unlikely). That would result in 14 million messages to be reviewed by people every day. /2

@Digol @echo_pbreyer I immediately got a message back: out of office reply. The person I was supposed to be mailing, was back in office on Monday.

So I thought "oh well".

Then I got a mail back yesterday:
"We read your mail. We do agree with you." And that they voted accordingly.

So.. did I just influence European politics and law? /3
