Do not punish people for things they don't even know they did. If people know there's a problem, they can do something to fix it. jumping straight into dick mode is not the way to do it. If you can't communicate, then maybe you shouldn't be moderating anything.

And then people have the nerve to wonder why they end up with results they don't like when they pull crap on the wrong person. Yet another reason Mastodon being set up the way it is, with individuals running individual instances is an extremely bad idea. You sure as hell didn't see this going on on twitter.

@evilcookies98 And yet the account doesn't exist now? Like I said, this is one of many reasons Mastodon being set up in separate instances is not a good thing. and the reasons are growing in number. Let's see. For months on end, Trolly McTrollerson was able to simply flit from instance to instance with impunity, and now we've got abuse of power at the admin level. I can't really say it surprises me though. after all, the same sort of thing was going on for the majority of 2023.

@evilcookies98 They're actually supposed to email warnings and so forth, that's the point. they're not supposed to simply toast accounts like that. what you're dealing with is a little toddler in an adult's body who's gone stinking drunk with power.
