@noondlyt @ai6yr I have experienced food poisoning from a salad with mayonnaise that had the sun beating down on it before I was served. It was severe, it was swift, I needed help to walk, and it was over in a few hours. Thanks, deli.

Maybe this is an ulcer. Maybe he's filled with parasites. Perhaps he's taking meds causing this reaction. It doesn't sound like food poisoning as I've experienced it, anyway.

practically, a variety of reasons. like, if he got sick on vacation, he may have to go home; there may be no option bc of insurance problems, or he just wants to be home?

but also, some people are just messed up and do things that are questionable, or insane.
i travel a lot, worst seen?
i saw a woman literally lose control of her bowels in a airport security line. like, it came out of her pant cuff, kept coming out, and she just continued on thru the line. >>WTAF????? 🤢

@MsMerope @ai6yr as fucked as it sounds, some folks are forced to travel with illnesses for numerous reasons. Sometimes it’s medical coverage limits, or visa expiring etc. Also, travel by air has become so routine that people don’t even associate it with risk to others to travel while sick. This person is in dire medical distress, but they may also not be with many options or be in a proper state of mind to make such decisions - or both.

Requesting stronger pain relief? Stronger than what? I've always just assumed that they a plane is maybe, hopefully, if you're lucky, stocked with ibuprofen or acetaminophen but probably not both, and that if your pain is any worse than that, then you're just screwed. I hope I'm wrong, honestly, but I would be surprised if they're even allowed to have anything stronger than that onboard.

Where "food poisoning" equals a food borne infection then yes. Eight days would not be unusual for an Adenovirus infection for example, but there are many other possible causes including more morbid conditions. Dude should see a doctor a few days ago. The plea for stronger analgesia raises the question of how cold the turkey is.

@heckinteagan Possible, but you'd have an extremely sharp pain in the lower right quadrant of your stomach, and pretty much cannot walk (apparently it's 11 out of 10 on the pain scale trying to walk with appendicitis).

@ai6yr if it’s e. Coli? Yes. Pain in thoracic + GI expel could be DKA adjacent even with food poisoning. Urine & blood test should shed some light. Sounds horrible.

Two 777s in the Raleigh area at that time. One had just taken off from Charlotte, and the other was flying over from Cancun. Both on their way to London, neither diverted.

My money's on a Spring Break tourist determined not to let severe illness harsh their buzz before heading back to classes or whatever 🙄
