Gabriel Markley@bodhipaine I would start with email. Select a provider you self host or pay. That keeps everything stored encrypted. And you only have the keys. Example proton.me. There are other good open options too.

@bodhipaine Make a list of what you rely on today from the big five, and then figure out the one which will be the easiest and cheapest thing to tackle. Come back to the others as you have time/energy/money.

@bodhipaine make a plan, i tell you what i am doing:
1. Write your main accounts on Big tech, and think about the importance/ critical for you Daily basis
2. Export your user-passwords from web browsers you use and make the same on 1
3. Choose a private and E2ECC service i recommend proton.me with a mail and download protón mail, proton pass and autenticathor
4. Now you must log in in each web service and deleting account if It is not critical for you and if its critical change the mail for an alias on protón pass
5. Always use a VPN, protón VPN its mine
6. Look for alternativas for each service from bigtech

News - feedly with the feeds you want
List of some bigtech and my alternatives:
- Google - mail, Drive, autenticathor, calendar - proton
- Chrome - Brave or Vivaldi
- YouTube - peertube
- meta ( Facebook - insta) - fediverse pixelfed, mastodon
- reddit - fediverse lemmy
- tiktok - fediverse loops
- AI ( openai, anthropic etc) - Lumo proton
- And of course for pc/laptop OpenSource - mine Pop_os, with OpenSource tools
