Quds News NetworkWatch | Former U.S. National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent said U.S. wars in the Middle East were driven by Israeli interests.
He stated that Washington removed Iraq’s Saddam Hussein and later targeted Syria’s Bashar al-Assad before moving toward confrontation with Iran, describing it as a continued phase of efforts aligned with Israel’s strategic goals.
Kent, who resigned in March 2026 over the Iran war, has argued that Iran posed no imminent threat to the United States and the U.S. involvement was influenced by pressure linked to Israel and its lobby, according to statements following his resignation.
