I'm not salty or anything, and I don't live in America anymore - but I absolutely checked a couple major cybersecurity events with rotating venues because surely by now in 2026, they must have moved to places safe for women and trans attendees, surely, surely, surely,

nah of course not

In this year of 2026 if you absolutely have to run your mobile, international event in America - and you choose to run it in Texas, Tennessee, or Florida, that is certainly a choice that reflects which of your members or employees you see as human.
@hacks4pancakes 100% agree. The thing is, especially now that ice is patrolling airports, it’s not even safe to travel out of the US for folks whose ancestors didn’t arrive via the Mayflower. Just going to an airport puts you at risk. It’s simply not a good time for conferences if you’re traveling into/out of/around the US.
@leathekd no, there's no good airport in the us right now
@hacks4pancakes and some employers here in Europe are *still* sending people to the U.S. for conferences or remote (remote being the U.S.) site visits. @leathekd
@chillicampari @hacks4pancakes @leathekd $employer offered me to visit Defcon&Blackhat this year. While I really appreciate the gesture it’s a hard no from me.
