Brains trust: for Reasons, my wife occasionally needs to wear a sports jersey as part of her work at a primary school ("wear your favourite team's jersey instead of school uniform if you donate to a fund raising effort" activities).

Neither of us are really sports people, but we *are* readers, so she has historically worn the jersey of a ... notable fictional magical broomstick-based sports team. But she would like to avoid supporting that particular franchise.

Any suggestions for a. Current front runner is a "Brakebills University Welters Team” jumper (from The Magicians) - but (a) it's not likely to be licensed content, and (b)... she teaches primary school, and might have to explain it 😆

Suggestions for a fictional sports team from she could support? Bonus points if it's YA *and* has official merch.

Also, I've heard that the creator openly advocates for pirating the series 'cause Disney screwed her so hard.

Apparently (I’m told) the Grudgby team at Hexside School of Magic and Demonics are called the Banshees. You can definitely get tshirt merch, but I’m not so sure about a jersey.

@vivtek @freakboy3742 It may not be YA, but there were certainly at least half of the discworld novels in my prep school library (up to age 13) and the whole series in my secondary school (13-18) library, with no age restrictions in either.

I would love a camp half blood shirt but riordan has never done official merch. There's the disney t-shirt merch, but the reviews say it's bad quality and it's sold out anyway

also, it doesn't feel like this qualifies as a sports team 😅

In 1992, the Grateful Dead sponsored the Lithuanian national basketball team — and these are really actually the jerseys they wore. I’ve always dreamed of buying a reproduction (the real ones are collectors items, extremely rare and expensive).
