TL;DR: I AM RUNNING FOR OFFICE! VISIT SANITYSAM.COM

So I have been mentioning a side project. Before I get to that I want to say Thanks again for the immaculate vibes we have here. Having this space where we focus on visual art has made it possible for me to consciously engage and disengage from the news - your cat pictures are keeping me sane.

In fact, this was one of the places I turned when I quit #Reddit for good, the day a child molester was reelected president of the united states. At the time, I didn't know what to do, but I knew the feeling of helpless rage that I got from #doomscrolling was the opposite of what I needed.

Giving up Reddit for #Pixelfed was a change of time but also of feeling, exchanging time crawling deeper into despair for time spent gazing into the faces of flowers. Connecting to love of nature like this really helped me let go of the wrong idea that I'm a powerless spectator. What I have learned from #Pixelfed is that we can take our power back, right now, if we just stop letting them make us angry.

But it wasn't all #florespondence. I also joined my local #Democratic Party as a precinct committee person. If you don't like the way things are, don't get mad, get involved. I got involved where I live, in Oracle, #Arizona. Love for our homes is something thing lots of us have in common here, and I love Arizona! But I don't love our legislature.

So, that's my side project! I am running for office in the most beautiful place in the world, and I am bringing my camera. Specifically, I am running for the State House of Representatives in Arizona's 7th Legislative District.
I stand for fairness and democracy, and if elected I'll work for the people to make Arizona fair for everyone.

(wonderful seeing your face, too ✨)
Having just watched "Democracy Now!"'s 30th celebration, it's clear that sense of community, hope, and urgent sincerity is as strong as ever - despite the horrors. Thanks for not ceding the beautiful Southwest 🌞🌵
