LWorks
@LWorksGames that's a surprise and a half. we were expecting Super liam to come out first.
@LWorksGames What a lovely surprise, a very long time before Christmas! I'll definitely play the latest version of Great Toy Robbery later today.
@frog67 Some folks though tI should wait until closer to Christmas, but I didn't want to make people wait another nine months for an update.
@LWorksGames Good on ya! To be honest, I didn't expect any update till nearer Christmas. As I play TGTR at any time of year, it's great to be able to play the new version not long before Easter.
@frog67 It would have been nice to do a super egg hunt update for easter, but there is still a ton of work I'd like to do.
@LWorksGames Great news that there will also be a Super Egg Hunt update, even if we have to wait a while for that one!
@frog67 I don't have a timeline on that one yet, but I very much want to make an update. I'd also love to bring it to iPhone.
@LWorksGames An iOS version would be great, but even if that never happens I look forward to a new version on Windows. Super Egg Hunt was one of the first games I ever played on Windows, and I've always loved it.
@LWorksGames How fun! Man, I'm excited for if you ever do Judgment Day. Still one of my fav games... Has been since I was like 12 or something. Even cooler if iOS ever came out. After all, the original version lets you use a mouse. I (think?) that was the first audiogame to use a mouse, was it not?
@remixman I don't think it was the first to use a mouse. No.
@LWorksGames Ah? I wonder which game was, then.
@remixman I'm not really sure. Great question though.
@LWorksGames @remixman 1 slight concern i have are the snakes on level 3, the wild woods. now for someone like you who is hard of hearing in the right ear, surely that may pose an issue?
@Drummerdaniels @remixman yeah. they are not my favorite thing. I'll be honest, i can't enjoy this game the same way I used to. But I'm glad others can.
@remixman @LWorksGames I second this. Judgment day would be awesome! But it's one of the more complex games like Super Liam so there's that too.
@LWorksGames It's a crime, Liam, now I'm addicted!
@menelion you're welcome lol.
@LWorksGames Anywhere to find a list of controller bindings?
@Rich manual should have them. if not, let me know.
@LWorksGames nice, saw what was new, but read me now has weird symbles lol. I think its every time you have an apostrafy sign
@bluenova I'll check. it is probably escape characters.
@LWorksGames oh its only in the web version of the readme, not the one in the zip file. guess I should have checked that
@bluenova @LWorksGames I noticed this too, apostrophes seem very broken in the readme, even the new Super Liam readme breaks this. Also I think dashes too.
@Kaliah @LWorksGames yup, correct. the readme in the zip files for both games are fine though
@Kaliah @bluenova Working on fixing this. it's an html encoding issue.
@LWorksGames @bluenova No worries, I just remembered seeing it in previous readme's and I wasn't sure if you were aware of it.
@LWorksGames @Kaliah awesome, thanks. really loving the new version, finally unlocked super L AI M and holy stars, he's one scary AI bot
@LWorksGames awesome! considering that nvgt supports cross-compilation for linux, can we expect a linux version in the future?
@esoteric_programmer When the executables actually work on Linux, yeah probably.
@LWorksGames if you build them in a linux environment, say wsl or CI or stuff like that, it works. If you build them on windows, linux users have to go in file properties and check a box, because windows filesystems can't produce the executable bit. I can probably play it in wine, but I think most of us wouldn't mind making the file executable manually because of tool limitations if that means one more native game. If there are other issues though, that's fair
@esoteric_programmer If I can build on WSL I am not opposed to trying that.
@LWorksGames yeah, sure you can! and you can even build on windows itself, it's just that linux people will have to set that bit. Now, the bigger thing is that nvgt should get a better linux package story eventually, because right now, this is like the mac OS version of the game would just be a binary file instead of an app bundle or however they call it over there. So yeah, that would involve flatpaks or appimages, which would probably not have this issue anymore, but also cross-compilation directly from windows wouldn't be possible, so one would need wsl or a linux system to build for linux.
@esoteric_programmer I don't mind building through wsl at all. I'll look at it next week.
@LWorksGames awesome, thanks!
@esoteric_programmer @LWorksGames This was actually just fixed in NVGT's latest commits, NVGT now uses libarchive instead of PocoZip, and the executable bit now gets added to Linux and iOS builds.
@Jonathan @esoteric_programmer Now if only we could add executable builds to mac. sad face.
@LWorksGames @esoteric_programmer I just varified with Sam, it should work with Mac builds as well.
@Jonathan @esoteric_programmer now that is awesome. I have to always transfer my projects over which I freakin hate.
@LWorksGames @esoteric_programmer You'll probably still have to to create a DMG though.
@Jonathan @esoteric_programmer I'm totally fine with that. means moving one.app file and running a script.
@Jonathan @LWorksGames @esoteric_programmer It's a shame we can't create DMG's on Windows for Mac.
@Bri @Jonathan @LWorksGames @esoteric_programmer Really random question, but why not just zip the `.app` for Mac?
Like it's easier IMO to just command down arrow on the zip, command c to applications folder and go, nothing to unmount after.
@johann @Bri @Jonathan @esoteric_programmer I mean. there's nothing stopping me from doing that I suppose.
@esoteric_programmer @LWorksGames NVGT's bundler now uses libarchive, so it should set the correct permissions now even on Windows. It can also generate a .tar.gz and such, and you could also configure pre and post-run commands for other packaging stuff.
@lerven @LWorksGames I've just been playing the new toy robbery. Seems like there are lots more toys. Also, no score in the free play round? I didn't know if that would have a time limit, or if you'd get a score for collecting all the toys, or how that would work. Made it to seventh place on the scoreboard, so at least there's that.
@Mitmee_Pie @lerven freeplay is just to run around and practice collecting toys.
@LWorksGames @Mitmee_Pie @lerven i've also been playing GTR, good work. I like that the game has jaws support, which the original didn't. good work.

@LWorksGames Wow a classic! I like the idea.

Did you keep the previous toys? I found the sounds they made very funny.

@xogium Yes. I didn't change anything.
@LWorksGames Hi. Is this going to get apple silicone compatible?
@TomGrant91 it already is.
@LWorksGames OK somebody who was telling me about this was probably mislead, I'll explain to them.
@TomGrant91 At least, I think?
@LWorksGames It wasnt on system requirements for mac
@LWorksGames Yes the friend says it works on cilicone.
