the 2032 illegal raves in abandoned data centers are going to be incredible
@Aleums In one area will be the rave, in another will be a community hydroponic farm. It'll be rad.

@breakfastgolem @Aleums

Rave, plant, rave, harvest, rave....

@Aleums So many Spirit Halloween stores...

@Aleums @PurplePest been thinkin about this for months

(Also the second-hand equipment market is gonna be nuts over the next 2-10 years)

@colinstu @Aleums @PurplePest how? the post is less than 24 hours old

@sodiboo collective conscious? great minds think alike? dunno

@Aleums @PurplePest

@colinstu I mean that's nice for people with money I guess but most people won't have money to be purchasing gear
@Aleums eh, I much prefer large workshops, datacenters are mostly just rooms with electricity and cooling, while large workshops have cranes and shit and that's much more fun
@ignaloidas @Aleums Yeah although datacenters can also be pretty nice in how they're typically not in the middle of nowhere (except IIRC in US due to their wacky zoning laws), so would make it much easier to gather with friends.
@[email protected] @Aleums idk, there's a big metal workshop in the city center here, there's a yearly (legal) rave in there, it's pretty good

@Aleums

In 2032 "abandoned" data centers will be ICE concentration camps / crematoriums.

@Aleums ohhh so that's where bubblegum crisis will actually happen!
@Aleums @void_friend “Hey, wait a minute… Why is the blood rave track from Blade paying??”
@Aleums I would have thought more some sort of bondage event; all those racks ...

@prw @Aleums

They get hauled out either for re-use or the scrap metal value.

(I've helped put on raves in actual abandoned tech buildings in the early 2000s, I used to live in a town called Reading in SE England which is basically "British Seattle" and had all the tech companies in it (it still does to some extent), but quite a few folded in early 00s and/or sent all their work to lower income countries..

By the time the tech company is gone, all thats left is the empty warehouse and maybe some legacy telecoms kit (by mid 2000s I had so much of it from these places that at my family home there were phones and network in every room, and you had to dial 9 for an outside line when making a phone call 😁 )

@vfrmedia @prw @Aleums Reckon there should at least still be some decent hardpoints to mount ropes to.
@vfrmedia @prw @Aleums the plethora of power outlets also make them choice venues for cannabis hydroponic farms
rack-mount hydroponics

how to grow plants in a server rack

@Aleums I like the way cyberpunk kicks off in RL
@Aleums I need to get started working on my LED-Laser projection dance outfit with accessory lighting mini drones.
@Aleums But what about the nuclear fallout from WW3?
@LordCaramac @Aleums Fallout doesn't actually last very long. People can live just fine in Hiroshima and that was basically a dirty bomb compared to modern nukes.
@yakmacker @LordCaramac @Aleums The first sentence (completely disconnected from the second) sounds like propaganda to prepare people to nuclear WW3. I read the same things in the Russian media, where "journalists" tell to people that nuclear bombing not so scary and that Europe is an easy target, since only France and UK has some nuclear warheads
@evgandr @LordCaramac @Aleums Oh, I don't mean to diminish how destructive nuclear weapons are. Believe me, I live next to a major military base, I regularly think about how my entire city could be flattened in an instant. There is this belief though that fallout permanently makes an area uninhabitable wasteland, when really it is only dangerous for a few weeks.
@Aleums french government is just planning a law to make uneequested musical gathering illegal and punishable
@Aleums if the GPUs are still available, I want to use them to write/run visuals.
@areactis Such a lie. No such requirements for vi.
@js you plan on scripting vi to produce the visuals for the rave? Or was I not clear about whether I wanted to "vibe code" the visuals vs whether I wanted to run shader programs on the GPUs. Cause those ML GPUs are *beasts* compared to what I used to use as a graphics programmer.
@Aleums whigs will be made out of abandoned Ethernet cables
@Aleums @maleve ah, I was wondering what they'd become! And, perhaps, some public "third spaces" for our youngs to socialise in?
@Aleums I'll be 66 and too arthritic to dance!

@Aleums I miss illegal raves.

At least the data centers will have plenty of cooling. That'll be a change.

@Aleums fuck yeah, i miss raves
@Aleums I'll be 53 and will happily go to those.
@Aleums And at least good air quality !
@Aleums you just have to sharte the space with homeless vibecoders who are grilling dogs over oildrums
@Aleums It will probably not take until 2032...

@Aleums Why are you so pessimistic?

I mean... as if we have to wait that long.

@Aleums It's not a rave. It's a human powered random number generator.
@mcr314 @Aleums
rave = random algorithm verwegbuxelungs engine

@mcr314 @Aleums
This sounds like a key part in futuristic key generation. When AI systems can just too easily crack encryption by predicting the random number generators.

Basically a huge crypto party with mending new keys, while partying and also exchanging them together to stay in contact 😎

Very Cyber, I like the scenario for some SciFi Novel or smth...

@Aleums ... especially the locally nuclear-powered ones.
