Went out for drinks tonight w/an ex, weather finally abiding (I don't eat/ drink indoors). And we're talking #politics (briefly) & the guy at the next table joins us & I said what I've said before, What makes you think the #Republicans will give up the #WhiteHouse when the #SupremeCourt says they don't have to?
Neither my ex nor our pal could answer - Well, our neighbor said that #Congress could pass "pointed #laws" to correct #SCOTUS but that's not how it works.

Even if we can pass a law to expand the #SupremeCourt, whichever Republican's in the #WhiteHouse for *the next four terms* (till 2040) will veto. Whatever "pointed law" we create to remove them, they have the power to veto, & all (even illegal) actions they take (especially to stay President) cannot be challenged, they (President and attorney) are completely immune (even if plotting to break the law!).
So 2041, to see a non-Republican in the White House, I think is optimistic. Realistically...?

@GetMisch

But it's also not how it works to say the Supreme Court gets to make that call. They don't have such authority, constitutionally, regardless.

You're right that Congress can't really make laws to correct such a ruling, that's not how that works, but that's because the entire question is above them all.
