Last night was the end of Spring Term at Cubs.

We went for a Night Hike. It was our first in a long time, and only my second.

Many of them completed Stage 2 of the Navigator Badge. They used compasses with my hand drawn map of the local forest paths.

I led them in a Repeat After Me campfire song at one point as we walked through the dark woodland paths.

And we ended with (somehow) my first ever Scouts’ Own.

2/2 The Scouts’ Own I gave involved first, having the adults that attended eat a Tunnock’s Teacake and having the Cubs watch how they did it. Then have the Cubs do likewise, again watching each other as they ate it.

Then I pointed out how everyone, despite aiming for and achieving the same goal, everyone did it differently, and that’s OK.

I had seen it given at the Camp I was volunteering at in the summer, the Cubs watching the Young Leaders. The person who suggested it had also seen it done.
