RE: https://mastodon.social/@Mastodon/116296392095869320

You heard right – the new profile experience is now live on Mastodon.social and other participating servers, and will soon be available to all in Mastodon 4.6.

With it comes easier editing, simpler handle explainers, and much more.

Thanks to the #mastodon community for your continued support and feedback!

@imanijoy good work on it! Keep it up!
@imanijoy Looks great! One request: on the handle hover card can you add a small “copy” button that when clicked copies the handle to your clipboard? Threads and loops have this and it’s super useful.
@imanijoy Phanpy social als has the copy feature...and here is the Threads UX for their card when you click on the handle....including the copy feature...

@tchambers @imanijoy Elk added this feature on the profile page. As I don't use hover cards on mobile, I appreciate its position.

@tchambers @imanijoy (OT: Elk also swapped profile pics for boosts. Mine is placed next to my username, not below OP's profile pic. I think it's more intuitive.)
@tchambers this seems totally reasonable. Thanks for the suggestion!

@imanijoy

Please tell me that we finally have alt text for header and avatar images....

@imanijoy hi! 👋🏼 Question for you!

Every design requires post-release adjustments. But Mastodon is a hard platform and community for analytics and other measurements.

How will you know that this new design works?

Will you make incremental changes based on live testing, and if so, how will you know what to change?

Thanks for taking the question!

@evan did you watch my talk, or are you just a bit clairvoyant? 😎 Either way, great question.

Our team is monitoring feedback on Mastodon and Github. We also just landed on an open-source survey software that works for us, so I'll also be sharing a survey with the 4.6 release.

@imanijoy I will watch your talk!

I am very interested; I work for https://socialwebfoundation.org/

@evan very cool! I'd love to hear what you're up to, especially around E2EE.
@evan The question of "how will you know what to change" might be one for a blog post (or three). But I'm happy to hear you're interested in the process.
