RE: https://alpaca.gold/@seldo/116286295716964968

This guy is crawling your posts to add them to an LLM. It didn’t even occur to him to make the bot check for an opt-in. It’s purely extractive, and he’s mad that you don’t want to supply his bot with content.

#fediblock them and their server

@seldo
is now using his newfound Main Character energy to enthusiastically miss the point. https://alpaca.gold/@seldo/116294277992184587

Lotta people I don't follow are big mad that I am reading their content, which I am not doing, because I don't follow them.

@JoshuaACNewman christ, what an asshole
@alisynthesis
Just, never occurred to ask if anyone wanted it.

@JoshuaACNewman and then acted like the people saying "um ask my consent please" are the ones at fault.

Just really classic asshole behavior.

@JoshuaACNewman he tried to follow me but I rejected it but how we can stop LLMS training from our posts

@Elira
Practically? I can’t think of anything. Like, a web browser extension could just crawl around the Fedi and it wouldn’t look different than a person.

The biggest defense is the bizarre, cocksure pride these dudes have, where they think everyone will welcome them. But surely, some of them know to keep their traps shut.

@JoshuaACNewman it still says post pending. Any way you can link it?

@[email protected] There really are a bunch of tedious bastards on here, aren't there? I remember why I left.

Alpaca.Gold
@JoshuaACNewman no idea what the fuck a seldo is, but fuck them and the bot they rode in on. Blocked, thanks for the reco.
@edendestroyer Thanks for the heads up! We should be good though, I think we have them blocked?
@JoshuaACNewman personally, I can see the value in some sort of "show me what I missed" thing, but absolutely no reason to use an LLM for it. Getting consent, and then using hashtags or words to look for, wouldn't be that hard. I'd love to have a way to see all mutual aid posts my mutuals have posted since I was last on, but all that's needed for that is hashtags and consent 🤷 and no summary necessary, if I don't want to read a post that's what scrolling is for

@raphaelmorgan

I believe there's a feature called "lists" where you can do things like that.

@JoshuaACNewman

@pewnack @JoshuaACNewman even better, no need for someone to code the tool in the first place
