I wonder what's the reason behind @[email protected] voting against this snow clearing idea from NYC? Given the major snowfall from January which saw many sidewalks and bike lanes left unusable for weeks, it's worth pursuing whenever the City needs additional resources. #BikeTO #WalkTO #TOpoli

I’m opposed to it too. I think before we start of a new program or new approach, we need to fix the existing SnowTO contracts up to potentially cancelling them and returning it to city’s in-house responsibility. I also don’t see it addressing as many issues as NYC lacks city sidewalk clearing.
Other issues like the failure of Lines 1,2,6 in the heavy snow are issues that can only be addressed by trained personnel (you’re not letting untrained surge staff clear switches on subway track) and proper equipment. We also don’t know how we would dispatch folks to actual problem locations.
