A new era for Open Research Europe

European Commission to co-fund new phase of operation for open access publishing platform.

@pacobib the problem is always reaching readers, but I want to feel optimistic
@andrecatta Of course, the goal is to gain readers. But this change is significant: no APC (no payment required) and no need to have a European project. In Spain, we have change from the impact factor (IF) allows publishing in ORE to be considered valuable. We will see whether this changes now that having a European project is no longer necessary. Could it become flooded with “low-quality” content? It may also become harder to find reviewers—especially if peer review is open…
@pacobib the fact you no longer need a EU-funded project to publish is quite relevant. I agree with you about reviewer: without any sort of explicit – or least gamified – incentives they’ll be always scarce.
I’d propose a 1:1 get-give reviews. If you don’t contribute you won’t be reviewed. This approach is flawed as well, in some ways, I’m sure, just a starting point
