So I am currently having an issue with TalkBack. It doesn't respond or speak to me whatsoever. No amount of swiping, using gestures, etc, does anything. In fact, when my little brother tried to use it to help me figure it out, the screen acted like TalkBack was off, meaning he could tap with a finger to activate icons. I tried toggling TalkBack (hold both volume buttons) to toggle it. The familiar chime indicated it had been activated. No go. Tried with Gemini, it said TalkBack had been enabled. No such luck. I'm not sure what's wrong. Any tips?
@tunmi13 Forgot to add, this is on a Pixel Tablet. So if anyone has Pixel devices this should make sense, though advice from people who use other brands can chime in as well.
@tunmi13 Ah, glad I'm not the only one for whom TalkBack just starts to totally shit in. Soft reset/restart your device and it should work again. For how long? Oh probably around a half day. Enjoy. Yes I'm pissed about it all too.
@jonathan859 @tunmi13 This is rather rare, think I have had it a handful of times in the last year, oddly enough always while in an edit field in an electron app, not a clue what causes it. But yep force restart, power+volume people for a bit, should fix it.
@tunmi13 Oof, the only time I saw anything like this was when trying to install an unofficial talkback beta APK. The way I had to fix it was conencting my phone to the computer with USB debugging and reflash Talkback with root.
@TheQuinbox @tunmi13 Joy oh joy! 😂 Well worse case scenario I might have to tinker.
@tunmi13 @tunmi13 If restarting does not fix it, I would have someone help you install prudence screen reader in the play store to use in an emergency situation.
BTW which phone are you using?
@GraceTechNerd @tunmi13 Prudence? Are we speaking of Prudence Interactive, the company obsessed with microtransactions? If so, with all due respect, I don't want their screen reader, especially given the experience of how navigation in their games work.
@tunmi13 @GraceTechNerd @tunmi13 Same company but different people working on it. I've used PSR and its not too bad.
@alexchapman @tunmi13 @GraceTechNerd @tunmi13 I've still yet to try it. CSR is my current reader.
@cubic @alexchapman @tunmi13 @GraceTechNerd @tunmi13 I myself use CSR. I have a Samsung Galaxy S25. I'm experiencing an interesting issue where my phone screen is extremely sensativbe and it doesn't let me perform certain gestures. I don't know how to adjust my screen sensitivity with CSR. So I'm totally stuck right now. So yeah.
@tunmi13 it does that to me sometimes. luckily, I have more experience than you. what I would do is restart the device. depends on your phone, but mostly it's holding down both the power plus volume down keys for at least 15seconds untill the phone vibrates
@adisonverlice On the Pixel tablet it was hold the lock button plus the volume up button for about 10 seconds.
