Another American district turns blue — and this one is remarkable!

Trump's home Mar-a-lago is located in Florida's state House District 87, which has now held a special election because Republican Mike Caruso has since stepped down.

In 2024 Republicans won this seat by 19 percentage points. But in Tuesday's special election, Democrat Emily Gregory won this seat by 2 points — that is a 21 point shift in support for the Trump party.

Not 2.1 — 21!

@randahl Surely a 21 point shift _for_ the party would have yielded them a win unless they were so far behind it was a forgone conclusion.

This looks more like a 21 point shift _against_ the Republican party.

It is formally correct English.

'support for the Trump party' has 'shifted' (in the downward direction) by '21 points'

But yes, it can be easily misread.

@randahl perhaps it’s now time to investigate how it is possible that a shady individual named D.J. Trump appears to be living in a commercial property that appears to be some kind of clubhouse, but that very definitely isn’t a residential property of any kind (presumably for tax reasons).
