The NPS is conducting prescribed burns in the Indiana Dunes National Park to prevent forest fires from having fuel when conditions dry out in the summer.

There is a burned area that looks better than the unburned areas on E 5th from County Line Road in Miller near Woodlake Village. All the invasive plants and dead leaves have been converted into carbon, but the natural trees are still standing.
