I made a thing. 😎
After diving into #HomeAssistant, I discovered #ESPhome and started playing with it.
Now I have an #ESP32 board that fetches dad-jokes in regular intervals (https://icanhazdadjoke.com/) and displays them on a little e-ink display that was leftover from another project.
Took me a while, and my family hates the jokes. Time well spent. 🤣

There's no magic involved, the only complicated part is the line-wrapping, which seemingly has to be user-implemented (and I took code I found online for that).
Oh, and the display is only updated _after_ the interval, so the first change is visible after a minute.
But as I mentioned: this was just to get to know ESPhome, this is not a permanent "solution". 😉
