XML (1998): ancient
JSON (2001): modern
@einarwh c’mon, who uses JSON those days, YAML (2001) is the modern alternative

@tymwol @einarwh Last time I heard about Y U NOT YAML for something was because "edge cases" that JSON didn't have.

Plus, XML is still the option for finantial, military and medical, because is strict as fuck. Even if strict, what winds me down is the amount of boilerplate you have to put to manipulate it.

@einarwh Kubernetes using URLs as namespaced YAML keys made me double-take
@einarwh In practical terms JSON is twenty years ahead of XML.
@einarwh YAML (2001): Cursed
@einarwh just like how gen alpha sees people according to their birth year
@einarwh modernizing linux with the .ini-format from 1989.
