No, its not the Namibian desert. It's the Duna de Bolonia.

"Hundreds of thousands of small, stinging grains of sand travelling at warp factor 4 directly into the face for the next 45 minutes wasn’t what I would call fun. Having said that it was a very cheap, complete and thorough exfoliation of the skin."

@elperronegro Love the photographs! Really different from my usual timeline, the 3rd one reminds me of a scene in the movie DUNE ;)
@madeindex Thank you. It's a really strange phenomenon is this dune, caused by "levante" (easterly) winds. Unique.

@elperronegro Very very cool :)

Is the sand coming over from Africa? Like somewhat similar to some of the Canary islands?

@madeindex yes we do get the "Calima" Saharan dust affecting us. More and more in recent years. This dune though is built up by the constant easterlies that move sands away from the coast and up into an area of hills. How the sands get replenished I don't know

BTW I just wanted to say I really like your GoToSocial page design, fits well to the content!

@madeindex thank you. It is an experiment in self hosting but also extends the options for posts/images
@elperronegro Yip, if it was the Namib desert the sand colour would be darker.

@elperronegro Hey, thanks for the good memories … a few years ago I stayed in Estepona for a few months and more or less accidentally discovered Duna de Bolonia. Went there several times since it is such a tranquil place, no crowds, soft sand and wind, view of Africa over the strait of Gibraltar, with ships passing by. So nice memories.
@bigz its the first time I have been there. It blew my mind. Why has nobody told me about this place before 🀣
