Yeah so this VetruvianOS thing has my alarm bells ringing, but I can't tell why. The "AI" sloptext everywhere isn't helping, and neither are the grandiose promises (most likely also slopped by "AI").

I could be totally wrong, who knows. For now I'm not burning my fingers on this one.

@thomholwerda The website definitely is located somewhere in the uncanny valley. But looking at the page source it is generated with Hugo.

They probably picked the most boring template they could find.

@kdekooter @thomholwerda Yeah, I just did a dive into the repos and issues tracker, and from what I could see, this is... legit. Also this thing was apparently started in 2019 but was kept as a quiet project until they had something meaningful to show
@techokami @kdekooter @thomholwerda Picking through the commit history I didn't notice anything overly strange (e.g. inhuman amounts of new code). The overall approach of grafting Haiku user land onto Linux seems sensible. Someone on here posted about a similar idea building around Wine + Linux which IMO makes a whole lot of sense as an offramp from Microsoft dependence. I wish someone would do the same to OS X.
@techokami @kdekooter @thomholwerda Ok somehow I missed that a project called "darling" which is more or less Wine but for OS X apps is under active development and appears to be making some good progress: https://github.com/darlinghq/darling
