@sean_ae @alisynthesis @TROG omg never thought you'd be into ween but it tracks lol. As an HR16 owner I was so happy to hear on their records in addition to the weirdness. I need to revisit their discography.

@alisynthesis @sean_ae @TROG I loved mine. I finally got an HR16b & realized it was the one I wanted all along lol. But the HR16 has a couple great snares that sound like black metal when pitched high enough. Maybe I'll lay both out in a row with both the MMT8s for a row of Alesis and the sounds of 1991!
@changterhune i have that little retrokits sequencer that's based on that alesis, and it's really fun. super useful!
@changterhune of course, now that i say that i'm realizing i haven't used it in like 2 years. shrug.
@alisynthesis @sean_ae @TROG oh wow what's that? I always wished they'd make another one like an MMT16. Rumors swirled about one with 16 tracks and huge memory but it was vaporware and dreams.

@sean_ae i use it like a simple little midi looper, although it can really do quite a bit. looks like the price has gone up, unfortunately.
don't sleep on their little midi router too, the rk-006. that one i honestly couldn't live without at this point.
@alisynthesis @sean_ae @TROG oh wow that midi hub looks dope. I'm literally in need of one MIDI socket in my rig right now for the TD3 to sync to. This may be a rela purchase before the rtr.
@sean_ae @alisynthesis @TROG yeah I had a lot more midi panic back then lol. Last time used mine was 28 years ago. Paired them up like Orbital to run an S900, CS1X, DR660, MKS30, EX8000 & others. The good old days.... except when you had to open it up and rub a pencil eraser on the contacts after the buttons got finicky.
@sean_ae @alisynthesis @TROG lol yeah had that happen. And then I spilled gatorade or something on it and realized I needed a new sequencer. I think I used an RM1X next then graduated to an iBook and Ableton.
@changterhune @sean_ae @TROG i kinda love the trend of small shops/makers re-upping classic gear. i have the s2400 (rip) and it's a really badass modern remake of the sp1200.

@changterhune it's a really amazing instrument. honestly, overkill for what i usually need a sampler for, but i doubt i will sell it because it's so fun as a standalone thing.
the guy who runs isla instruments is apparently closing down his us-based business and heading back to the uk, so the future of that instrument is a bit up in the air, but there are quite a few out there at this point.

it's really freaking cool...a little tough to use for a few technical reasons for the various weird stuff i want to do, but it's one of those instruments that just always sounds unbelievably good. i haven't been using it on my newest stuff and i always look longingly at it sitting in the corner...

i almost went for it and then slept on it and then the site went down
but tbh idk how much i'd use it, it would prob be like yours for most of its life, but still worth having ykwim

@sean_ae its midi implementation is one of the top reasons i love it. you can do pretty much anything you can imagine, and on a per-pad/sample basis. it's unreal, and it has ruined my expectations for other samplers.

Yeah I don't need another device nor interface though I keep telling myself I need an MPC style pad array because reasons. But the Push 2 fills most of that. Sigh. I'm gonna covet one now aren't I?
@changterhune @sean_ae @alisynthesis Oh, man! I still have my DR-660! Been meaning to dig it out and set it up again as it has been YEARS. I unpacked it a few years ago only to find that the internal battery needs replacing, but that's not too difficult.
@TROG @sean_ae @alisynthesis yeah I dragged mine out recently & it worked just like the old days including the wonky MIDI in socket that makes syncing both fun and optional! Never got it fixed lol.
