[looking for advice - pattern drafting]
I’m working on a coat pattern with a lot of pattern pieces, and I don’t know how to best mark them for later construction (what pieces exist, what is sewn to what).
Right now I’m 1) writing at some seamlines “sewn to [pattern piece]”, and 2) drawing the pieces roughly on a notebook to keep track.
Any tips how to best go about this in a clear way?
Thank you💚

Note: I prefer pencil&paper methods, will unlikely use a computer.

@nuria the bought patterns I've used in this situation just have numbers for each pattern piece, then instructions ie, sew piece 1 to piece 2. But you do need to look at the pieces carefully to get the correct edges lined up. You could draw an exploded diagram of the finished article to help.
The other suggestion of numbering seams probably makes more sense!
@rebeccabanner @nuria i mostly number my pieces and then add the numbers of the neighboring pieces on the edges.
and if there are pieces that are almost symmetric i sometimes add letters to corners or other easily matchable points.
@glowl ohhh that’s also a nice idea, thank you! I will continue today and try it out :)
