For those asking about the wedding cake: it's literally just two store bought choc mud cakes stacked, with cheap decorations on top(not edible), and a ribbon around the middle. Below the poverty line and all that, so nothing fancy, but it worked for usπŸ₯°πŸ’œ

@amorablackrose That is a beautiful cake. Nobody needs to spend the kind of money on wedding *anything* that people spend on weddings.
@roknrol exactly our thoughts! The wedding day is important, but it's the marriage that's THE most important part. Plenty of people spend on a wedding, and are either divorced within 5 years or have shitty marriages and aren't compatible, but they've got carried away with the wedding day and didn't look at the actual important stuff. I'd rather put that energy and effort into married life than one (wedding) dayπŸ₯°
@amorablackrose @roknrol we both hate being at the center of large social gatherings, so our wedding was basically ceremony; food with family; photos; and then home on the couch, being happy with each other. Last bit was the best part!
@amorablackrose I feel you on the poverty wedding. Our wedding cakes (and the rest of the wedding dinner) were made by my mother. And the party was at my parents' house. πŸ˜…
@Gulleko this is beautiful!πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

@amorablackrose Thank you! ☺️
We were more interested in how it tasted than how fancy it was, which was absolutely the right choice for us.

I think the most expensive part of the wedding were the pretty rings, with food as a close second because my mother does not half-ass anything when it comes to food. πŸ˜‚

@amorablackrose It still looks fancy. And those skulls look too pretty to eat anyway. πŸ’€ ☠️
@amorablackrose Huh. I honestly thought it was a decorated top hat. 🎩
@amorablackrose congratulations. Good cake. Felicitations.
@Photo55 thank you so muchπŸ₯°πŸ’œ
@amorablackrose
Congratulations on your wedding. Thank you for sharing your joy.

@amorablackrose

Wonderful. If I were ever silly enough to get hooked-up again (and if someone else was silly enough to be part of that), I'd like this cake!

@amorablackrose
Wedding cakes should be whatever makes the day special for you.

We had three wedding cakes, and I made them all. There was a Golden Almond cake from Rose Levy Beranbaum's Cake Bible (my husband's and my choice). An Angel Food Cake with Seven Minute Frosting from Fannie Farmer for my dad (allergic to dairy but loves almond). And Velvet Spice Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting from Joy of Cooking for my step-mom (allergic to nuts).

And my dad had two British Museum Tyrannosaurus Rex models so we used them for the cake topper on the almond cake. It was perfect. Just like yours!

@Robotistry oh, I love all this so much! Thank you so much for sharing with me. I bet everything was fantastic πŸ₯ΉπŸ₯°πŸ’œ
