(Note that this kind of stuff is not well liked here on mastodon, I got browbeaten into shutting down just a search engine that worked that way, let alone exfiltrate a timeline into an LLM provider)
@janl Me personally, and also anyone who uses the app. It's just a mastodon client, fetching the timeline. It looks like every other mastodon client.

Personally, I’m a fan of Mastodon indexes and have opted in to a couple, but I’m strongly opposed to having my posts taken without my consent to train LLMs.

@scottmiller42 @janl @seldo why should I opt *out* of those? the more appropriate tags would be # YesBots and # YesUseByLLMs for people who explicitly want their content to be included by these tools. and if you can't get enough people to use those in order to make your product viable, then mayyyyyybe you could stop and think why is that

"Hey, I know people are upset about me helping LLMs peek into their digital homes, so I'll meet them halfway. I"ll add support so that people who run LLMs for the purpose of peeking into their homes, can choose not to peek into their homes! Brilliant, right?"
(Don't get me started on it being set up to scrape DMs too.)
@noodlejetski @janl @seldo Obviously opt in is how it should be, but by your own point, that's never going to happen. It doesn't seem like the law is going to stop the LLMs either, at least not in my jurisdiction.
