Questions for people who do full make-up:

1. When I prime my face do I need to use the same primer for the eyes?
Which leads to question 2. Do I use concealer or eyeshadow primer?
3. Can I use baby/any talc powder as some sort of setting powder?
4. Do I really need false lashes if I'm gonna put winged eyeliner or is eyelash curler and mascara all good?

What I know so far:

*If I'm using a silicone-based foundation, I need a silicone-based face primer, water-based foundation over water-based primer, etc.
*Hooded eyelids have a different way to put eyeshadow and winged eyeliner.
*Setting spray is the last step. (Is this essential or primer can basically hold everything up? I guess this is question 5 lol)
*make sure to do your skin care routine including sunscreen lol
*tidy up eyebrows

Thank you very much in advance.

@pipesunlimited re yiur makeup Qs, does @seawall have advice from her earlier makeup work?
@Kay @seawall i should follow her ๐Ÿ˜…
@pipesunlimited many years ago @seawall used to help with show production work I think. Makeup isn't her current focus but she may remember.
@Kay thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š
@Kay @pipesunlimited yeah, nah, sorry, I can't remember anything really useful
@seawall @Kay that's alright. Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š
@pipesunlimited not an expert, but this is what I'd do:
1) never heard of face primer, just eye primer. I use that for keeping eyeshadow vibrant/dark depending on which is used
2) concealer for spot correction, like under eye circles or red splotches, then foundation for full face if I go that far, with a bronzer if only using one color
3) I use transparent face powder
4) I'd say it depends on your look - I go for volumizing mascara and curl for most if not all the rare times I do wear make up
@iamaugustreign oh thank you!
Yeah i know or eye primer and then found out there's face primers now too lol
@pipesunlimited huh, neat! Oh, also, for your 5th question: I'd say a heavier makeup or longer wear would warrant the spray, but for general use? I don't spray my face unless im gonna sweat - and I sweat heavily when I do, ๐Ÿ˜…
@iamaugustreign alright. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks again ๐Ÿ˜

@pipesunlimited You can use any kind of makeup over a silicone primer. ANd yes, you can use a silicone primer on your eyes.

In case you don't know this little trick, Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel is the best unkept secret in the makeup world. It's a fantastic makeup primer. Walmart has an Equate house brand version that is just as good, and even cheaper.

As good or better than Smashbox Photo Finish, fraction of the price.

Chafing Relief Powder Gelยฎ

Relieve chafing and irritation with Monistatยฎ's Chafing Relief Powder Gel to soothe and protect sensitive skin in delicate areas.

Monistat
@gcvsa ooh! Nice. I'll check if there's an equivalent to that here in NZ.
@pipesunlimited Essentially the difference is that the Monistat and Equate products have mattifiers in them, whereas Smashbox is just a clear gel. The mattifier makes them great foundation fakers: just the primer and a translucent powder will do wonders for evening out your complextion. They are also fantastic for men to reduce forehead shine.
@pipesunlimited Do not use baby powder for makeup setting powder. Use a dedicated makeup setting powder.
@gcvsa ok. No baby powder ๐Ÿคฃ

@pipesunlimited This stuff is pricey, but a little bit goes a long way. Laura Mercier is always a top choice for makeup.

Setting Powders & Sprays

@pipesunlimited hi !

1. No
2. You can use eye primer OR concealer ; if you use concealer, you may need to apply a thin layer of powder to prevent creasing
3. Not sure. I've read some people saying it's not as thin as face powder - maybe it's better to use a cheap face powder (RCMA is a great option, it's huge and I still have mine after many years)
4. You don't need lashes if you don't want to put lashes. I often wear dramatic eye makeup and rarely put false lashes on.
5. For setting spray, you can just spray water - it also works.

I hope it helps!
(Sorry for bad english)

(Edited to fix a typo)

@sllg thank you!

Your English is fine, don't worry. ๐Ÿ˜Š
