Me, throwing caution to the wind in publicly leaving a reader's comment to NYT article:

"As a transgender woman, I despair with how Edsall and others platformed by the Times frame politics around trans rights. We're told that Democrats should "moderate" their positions, without being told what that would mean in practice. Keep in mind that more and more state legislators are passing extreme anti-trans measures, essentially pushing trans people out of public life. 1/2

Read a Times Reader's Comment on: Why Are So Many Democrats So Far Out of Touch?

Candidates in safe districts are under no pressure to moderate in order to win.

Telling someone who looks like a woman that they must use men's restrooms or go to jail, or someone who looks like a man that they must use women's facilities or go to jail is completely impractical. It basically means use no public restrooms. Is this what moderation looks like?"

typo: meant "legislatures" not "legislators"

@fullyabstract"use no public restrooms" is the medium-term goal, yes. Banished from public life. Much easier to liquidate if no one's watching. They're using the language of genocide, we should not give them the benefit of the doubt and expect that they won't use the methods of genocide as well.
@fullyabstract Democrats should absolutely moderate their position. To the center. Where human rights are the norm. Moderate away from the radical right-wing lunacy speaking the language of genocide.
