broccoli
cauliflower
Both, yum!
Ew, neither!

I find I like cauliflower better cooked and broccoli better raw.
@Fragglemuppet If I had to choose one, broccoli is my choice.
@Fragglemuppet Raw broccoli tastes too bitter for me. Raw cauliflower tastes like sock. I like both, but they are both more palatable when cooked. Steamed is best for both options.

@zalasur @Fragglemuppet interesting. I love the taste of raw cauliflower.

I totally dislike it cooked (in water), but do like it roasted/pan-fried

Cauliflower is alright. I like it steamed with a bit of carroway. Broccoli is absolutely amazing though.
@cy That's interesting. I'll have to try it. Thanks!

@Fragglemuppet

And my lady, she went downtown
She bought some ber-ra-ccoli
She brought it ho-ome...
She's chop'in broccoli

@Fragglemuppet cauliflower is okay, I'm not picky. But Broccoli is my jam!
@Fragglemuppet Steamed with cheese all over the place. Maybe with some tiny silver skin onions as well.

EDIT to correct nature of onions
@Fragglemuppet @GrahamDowns My wife already knows the millisecond my youngest child leaves for college I will never consume those again. Ever. In. My. Life. I'm only, for now, supposed to be "a good example" to the kids or something. LOL.

@leoncowle @Fragglemuppet well, hold on to your hat, because I'm about to drop another bombshell: I like Brussels sprouts too. :-D

I've always liked most fruits and vegetables. The only two things I really didn't like as a child (and am still not crazy shout) were avos and spinach.

And I'm not a fan of East Asian food in general. And I don't like mielie pap.

@Fragglemuppet Can I cast a write-in vote for brussel sprouts?

@michaelvcooper1 Love those!

But broccoli and cauliflower tend to be thought of similarly, even though they're not really.

@Fragglemuppet Just had both

With leek, sprouts, peas, cheese sauce, bacon bits & extra cheese on top then grilled to brown the cheese off

Tastes better than it sounds

@staringatclouds And it sounds amazing!

@Fragglemuppet it's a 'throw what veg you have, in the pot, steam it, cover it with cheese sauce, cheese & bacon bits' type recipe, no fixed amounts or set ingredients

I tend to avoid root veg for it tho, might work, you never know

@staringatclouds Turns out turnip with a little cheddar cheese is quite good.

@Fragglemuppet I have a problem with turnip, I can't keep it down

I used to like it mashed with carrots & butter when I was little but became intolerant as I grew older

@Fragglemuppet @giflian I put broccoli on the pizza I made for supper today! 😀🥦❤️

@uxMark @Fragglemuppet I don't like broc on pizza, but I'm happy you do.

They're my favourite since childhood because they look like little trees.

@giflian @Fragglemuppet I love them raw with dip, too. And we have other suppers based on them. I love cauliflower too. And cabbage and Brussels sprouts. Really, the whole family 😀
@giflian @uxMark Aw, my mom and grandmother used t o call them Christmas trees.
@Fragglemuppet Looks like nobody has written in regarding the accursed broccoflower? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broccoflower
Broccoflower - Wikipedia

@giflian I've heard of it, but never tried it.

@Fragglemuppet

In my experience, if you grow cauliflower in a warm location, it tends to look a lot like broccoli.

Broccoli and cauliflower were only developed in the last 500 years or so.

Kale, kohlrabi, cabbage, cauliflower, and brussels sprouts are all cultivars of wild mustard.

@Fragglemuppet Cauli gets that nice browning and crisping that tastes good when roasted and fried, so it's more versatile. (Broccoli crisps and browns too but it also seems to get bitter when it does that.)
@Fragglemuppet Prefer them both raw myself, though my body disagrees lately so I have to limit them. Steamed is okay but the scent they give off when roasted is absolutely stomach-turning for me.
@Fragglemuppet At some point in my life, I remember getting bags of broccoli and cauliflower mixed together. And wow I just spelled them both correctly the first time!
@Fragglemuppet I particularly like a broccoli and cauliflower mash. A little butter and a little salt - good noms!
@Fragglemuppet Raw cauliflower with a cocktail sauce is the best!

@Fragglemuppet cauliflower and broccolini, although brussels might just be the best ...

roasting is the way for all of these.

@Fragglemuppet Brassicas are awesome!
@wendinoakland Don't think I've heard of those.
@Fragglemuppet That’s the entire class: broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, arugula…
@wendinoakland Ah, gotcha. Then yes, I agree.
@Fragglemuppet Stanky when overcooked, but versatile & delicious.
