Github or not Github for releasing some open source stuff?

I do not really like Github for many reasons, but IMHO releasing on any other service is a bit like shooting into the void.

It's a bit different when well known project leaves Github from me (no one) releasing on other service, because in the first case at least part of community and maintainers would go with the project, when in second one people would just shrug and forget.

@djvdq releasing on GitHub is not much different. the only difference is how many people have accounts there. but quantity is quantity, so there's no reason for more people to see it, or help out

@necrophcodr sure. But bigger chance is that people might want to contribute or even report bugs when it's where they have account and not to create one on some small platform just for this one ticket or commit
