I was reading a lot on Reddit how people shit on Claude Code that they use whole 5h usage with few prompts, but didn't really believe it, as I use it at work and was never even close to using it all.

Until today.

On daily basis I use Claude Sonnet 4.6 and it's ok. But I switched to Opus today to check something.

I have 2 observations:
1. It's really fast, faster than Sonnet for me
2. With 2 not that complex prompts I used 30% of my 5h usage 🤣

It's been around 7 years since #vim and later #neovim are my main text/code editors and to this day I don't get this micro management and/or gamification of configs. Spending hours working on it just to cut 17ms from startup time.

I'm doing updates (including plugin updates) to my config very rarely, as I don't treat it as yet another project to care about but as my editor that I want to just use.

LLMArena and specifically their coding leaderboard, where 27b Qwen model is 20 positions higher than 675b Mistral model shows really good, how slow Mistral is and how much they are lagging behine Chinese open source competition, not even mentioning American SOTA models.

I gave up with almost everything I tried in order to #degoogle and "deBigTech". I'm also stopping everything I have #selfhosted except for #pihole

Fighting alone, when everyone else around me (friends, family, coworkers) doesn't care at all, doesn't make sense to me.

I will keep some things I already moved, but that's all.

Github or not Github for releasing some open source stuff?

I do not really like Github for many reasons, but IMHO releasing on any other service is a bit like shooting into the void.

It's a bit different when well known project leaves Github from me (no one) releasing on other service, because in the first case at least part of community and maintainers would go with the project, when in second one people would just shrug and forget.

I stopped using Zellij and switched to base Ghostty tabs, panes and splits.

So far so good, but I can't count how many times my muscle memory automatically worked and used old Zellij keybindings instead of new ones 😅

People are complaining all the time how shitty search engines became in last few years (myself included), but are "we" doing anything about it?

It's probably a bad idea, but what if there were some kind of open index, where people could help to build it either based on their real usage (w/out any sensitive or PII data ofc) or by sharing their resources to crawl the web? And later create search engine based on this index, with all these features we're missing from "old google"?
