@francosolerio this is pretty good so far. Not seeing where chapters are displayed though, or is there some requirements for when chapters are available?

@francosolerio

I'm testing this out and when I click "generate magic transcripts" I see the progress bar flash then it goes back to here.

I tried different episodes and I get the same thing.

I'm also on an iphone 11 fwiw

@francosolerio @ChadF what iOS version is your iPhone 11 running? There’s probably a minimum iOS version, (I’d guess iOS 26) to support the local transcription audio api calls.
@francosolerio @ChadF huh 🤔 maybe a language settings issue or memory requirements for the api to be available… what languages was the Podcast in for reference?

@LonelyBob @francosolerio

All the ones I tested were English.

@ChadF well that's what beta are for 😄 Can you enable verbose logging, then send me the log file to info AT castamatic DOT com ?
@ChadF It's possible that speech recognition is not available on iPhone 11. Apple doesn't publish a list of supported device models. https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/802863
I’ll post a new version that should give more info about the error.

@francosolerio I see magic transcripts but not magic chapters? I've had a lot of background crashes this morning. Sent you feedback with my podping email.
@brianoflondon thank you Brian. I’ll look into it. The option to generate magic chapters is in the player menu (three dot icon)

@brianoflondon If you're on iOS 26 and "Generate Magic Chapters" isn't showing up here's what to check:

The episode needs to be fully downloaded — streaming won't work
Your device needs to support Apple Intelligence (iPhone 16+, etc.)
The on-device language model needs to be downloaded and ready — check Settings → Apple Intelligence
If a transcript is currently being generated, the option will appear once it's done

@francosolerio @brianoflondon Ah, that’s my problem. I’m on an iPhone 13 mini so I can’t get magic chapters. 😢

Transcript worked great though.

@dave @francosolerio ahh I'm on a 14 as well. Kinda waiting for the Hebrew significant 18 before I upgrade 😆 Chai!
@francosolerio all the time. I've stopped sending them to you. Iphone 14 Pro Max. I can do transcripts but not chapters. Got another one typing this message.

@francosolerio I’m still fascinated with your setup!

Would something custom, like this, work for your entire service? You’ve mentioned before how costly it is. Could doing it yourself improve performance and drop costs?

Anyway, I love the setup. I look at this as the equivalent of being a race car owner and driver who works on his own equipment. Tune it the way you want/need it.

@francosolerio Where's the mechanism to transfer episodes to Apple Watch for playback without iPhone (e.g., while out for a run)? Looked in settings and couldn't find anything.
