The James Bond Theme was written in 1962 by Monty Norman

The Mission: Impossible Theme was written in 1966 by Lalo Schifrin

The Star Trek Theme was written in 1966 by Alexander Courage

wild that six decades later these themes are still strong in popular culture

@tvaziri Gene Roddenberry wrote hysterically bad lyrics for the Star Trek theme, unbeknownst to Courage, and submitted them as part of the registration of the music, thereby stealing half the royalties.
@jvschrag @tvaziri which is apparently why TAS didn't use the original theme

@tvaziri I mentioned this to people who were so happy that Zach Snyder didn’t use the same old Superman theme. 🙄 I dared them to hum the theme to Man of Steel. Crickets.

Clarification: I love Hans Zimmer, his music is very emotional in the moment. It just doesn’t necessarily endure beyond the movie. John Williams’s march is bigger than the movies. It’s Superman.
